Behind the Business

If you had asked me years ago where my career was headed, “business owner” probably wouldn't have been my answer. Paralegal? Absolutely. The legal field has been part of my life for nearly two decades. I started as an Army paralegal at eighteen, and over the years I've worked in military justice, law firms, courts, and government legal environments. I've supported attorneys, worked with clients, maintained case files, prepared documents, conducted research, managed deadlines,

When I started McLamb Consulting & Support, I wasn't trying to create a business around one specific task. I was building it around something I've been doing for most of my professional life: Helping people figure out what comes next. Sometimes that means organizing a complicated case file. Sometimes it's helping someone put years of experience into a resume that finally reflects what they're capable of. Sometimes it's taking administrative work off a small-business owner's p

There was a time when I believed I had to figure everything out on my own. If I just worked a little harder…Read one more article…Watched one more tutorial…Spent one more late night trying to solve the problem… I'd eventually get there. Sometimes I did. But more often than not, I spent far more time, energy, and frustration than I needed to. One lesson I've learned over the years is this: Trying to do everything yourself usually costs more in the long run. Sometimes it costs

If you've ever been to Fayetteville, North Carolina, you'll understand what I mean when I say it can feel like a black hole. For me, it always represented chaos. Growing up there, I spent a lot of my life searching for somewhere I felt like I belonged. Somewhere I wasn't judged for my clothes, where I came from, or the way I spoke. I grew up speaking country and ebonics, and there were always people ready to make fun of it. Then I joined the Army. The Army became my escape. M

There was a time when I thought being organized was just part of my job. As a paralegal in the Army, organization wasn't optional—it was essential. Every document had a purpose. Every deadline mattered. Every file had to be where it belonged because someone else was depending on it. Then I left the military. Like I shared in my last blog, transitioning into civilian employment wasn't as simple as updating my resume. I was learning a completely different way of working while t

I’m writing this post in honor of my 37th birthday , which is just around the corner. Birthdays have a way of making us pause. They invite reflection, gratitude, honesty, and sometimes a little laughter about how quickly time moves. They also remind us that growth rarely happens in straight lines. Some years are about building. Some are about healing. Some are about surviving. Some are about rediscovering yourself after life asked a lot of you. As I approach 37, I find myself

Technology has changed how we work. Tools are faster. Systems are smarter. Information is everywhere. But one thing still matters deeply: personalized support. Templates cannot fully understand your goals. Automation cannot always recognize nuance. Generic advice cannot replace someone listening to your specific needs. Whether it is resume support, administrative help, or document preparation, people deserve solutions that fit their real lives. At McLamb Consulting & Support,

May is recognized as Mental Health Awareness Month , offering an important reminder that wellness is not separate from success—it is part of it. In a world that often celebrates constant productivity, packed schedules, and always being “on,” it can be easy to overlook the value of rest, balance, and emotional well-being. The truth is simple: burnout is not a badge of honor. Mental health impacts every part of life, including: Focus and decision-making Confidence and motivatio

One of the most common questions I receive is about what a document preparer or paralegal-style service can legally do. It’s an important distinction—and one that helps keep services transparent, affordable, and within professional boundaries. As a non-attorney document preparer , my role is to help clients organize and prepare paperwork, drafts, and forms based on their direction. I can assist with: Document formatting and layout Research and template guidance Summaries, cor

When I founded McLamb Consulting & Support , my mission was simple: to help individuals, small businesses, and organizations cut through the chaos and get the clarity they need. But the way I approach that mission comes directly from a very different environment — the fast-paced, high-stakes world of military legal work. For over a decade, I served as a paralegal in the U.S. Army, working on everything from high-profile court cases to sensitive administrative matters. That ex
