Behind McLamb Consulting: Why I Built a Business Around Helping People Move Forward

When I started McLamb Consulting & Support, I wasn't trying to create a business around one specific task.

I was building it around something I've been doing for most of my professional life:

Helping people figure out what comes next.

Sometimes that means organizing a complicated case file.

Sometimes it's helping someone put years of experience into a resume that finally reflects what they're capable of.

Sometimes it's taking administrative work off a small-business owner's plate.

And sometimes it's simply taking something that feels overwhelming and turning it into manageable next steps.

The services may look different, but the purpose behind them is remarkably similar.

My Career Has Never Fit Into One Box

My professional background spans military service, legal work, government, administrative leadership, and now business ownership.

I spent more than a decade in the U.S. Army as a paralegal, where my work required organization, attention to detail, confidentiality, adaptability, and the ability to manage complex responsibilities.

After leaving the military, I continued working in the legal field in civilian roles.

Those experiences gave me technical skills, but they also taught me something that has become central to the way I approach my business:

People don't always need someone to take over. Sometimes they need the right support to help them move forward.

That's ultimately what McLamb Consulting & Support was created to provide.

Support Can Look Different for Everyone

There's no single definition of what "support" looks like.

For an attorney, it might mean having an experienced virtual paralegal who can help maintain cases, organize electronic files, conduct research, prepare documents, and communicate with clients.

For a small-business owner, it might mean finally getting documents organized, completing administrative projects, or having another person available to handle tasks that have been sitting on the to-do list.

For a job seeker, it might mean sitting down with someone who can look beyond a job title and help translate years of experience into a resume that tells a clearer professional story.

Why “Support” Is in the Name

The name McLamb Consulting & Support is intentional.

I don't believe every client needs the same package, process, or solution.

Sometimes you need ongoing assistance.

Sometimes you need help completing one project.

Sometimes you simply need someone with experience to look at what you're dealing with and help you determine where to begin.

That's why I prefer to start with a conversation.

Before deciding what service makes sense, I want to understand what you're trying to accomplish.

From there, we can determine whether I'm the right person to help.

Professional Doesn't Have to Mean Impersonal

I've worked in environments where precision and professionalism weren't optional.

I value both.

But I've also learned that professionalism doesn't require treating people like case numbers, invoice numbers, or another name on a list.

You can be organized and approachable.

You can maintain professional boundaries while still listening.

You can provide efficient support without making someone feel rushed through a process.

That's the kind of business I want McLamb Consulting & Support to be.

Building Something That Reflects How I Work

Being a small-business owner has taught me plenty of lessons of its own.

I understand what it's like to wear every hat.

I understand the temptation to handle everything yourself because hiring help feels like one more expense.

I understand looking at a growing list of things that need to be done and wondering which one should come first.

That perspective influences the way I work with other small-business owners and professionals.

I'm not interested in creating extra work just so I can bill for it.

I'm interested in identifying where I can genuinely be useful.

Sometimes it means a small one.
